首先Kindle 3最主要的功能是读书，音乐只是辅助性的试验功能，所以刚买回来的时候k3的音乐播放功能让人感觉很弱，但既然我们最看重的是读书，那么，对于原系统自带的音乐播放，甚至小儿科的网络浏览器，我想都是可以忍受的。
直到有一天，我放了几首MP3歌曲进k3中，因为是新买的机器，所以本意只是想看看功能是否完善，只要能放出声音来就行了，没有寄于太多希望，但没想到的是k3的音质却意想不到的非常好。我没用过苹果的音乐播放器，但我用过三星的YUP MP3，我的耳朵告诉我Kindle 3的音质远远超越普通MP3播放器，音乐动态范围宽广，音量强劲，不管是低音的下潜还是高音的上探，都令人迷恋。网上有人说K3的音质与苹果的播放器相当，是否属实不得而知。
(2011-5-2,Update)已经与Iphone的音乐播放器对比过，音质上两者的确差不多，反正耳朵很难分辨出哪一个更好，但Iphone似乎输出音量更大一些。同一幅耳机，Kindle开到最大声时Iphone大概是开到音量90%的样子。
但既然无心插柳柳成荫，K3的音质如此优秀，我就想着该怎样物尽其用，让Kindle 3将音乐播放功能发挥到极至。
终于在Mobileread论坛找到国外已经有高人编译出了Mplayer for Kindle，我想Mplayer播放器大家都应该不会陌生吧，特别是玩过Linux操作系统的朋友更是耳熟能详了，Mplayer是专为Linux系统编写的最优秀媒体播放器之一。
音乐播放方面，先对比一下：
Mplayer for Kindle 特点：
1.支持AAC/M4A/FLAC/MP3/OGG等音乐格式
2.支持播放列表
3.支持随机播放
Kindle 3 自带播放器
1.仅支持MP3
2.音乐文件只能放在music文件夹内，且不支持播放列表，只能将music文件夹内的音乐文件从头到尾一首接一首播放
3.不支持随机播放
安装MPlayer for Kindle：
第一步：越狱。方法参见 这篇文章 中的越狱部分。
如果你的K3已经越狱，请直接跳到第二步。
第二步：安装Launchpad，Launchpad是一个快捷键管理程序，之所以要安装它是因为MPlayer for Kindle需要使用自定义的快捷键去运行。
到launchpad — yet another hotkey manager for Kindle这个帖子里下载 lpad-pkg-xxxx.zip ，然后解压缩，你会看到解压文件中有很多 .bin 文件，通过数据线将正确的 .bin 文件上传到 kindle 3 的根目录中。
文件对应：
k3g – K3 3G (US [B006])
k3w – K3 WiFi [B008]
k3gb – K3 3G (UK [B00A])
然后断开数据线，按下[menu]->[setting]->[update]，如果不出意外，你的 Kindle 3 会很快显示更新软件成功。这样，Launchpad就安装成功了。
第三步：安装MPlayer for Kindle
到MPlayer for Kindle帖子里下载mplayer-x.x.x.zip，然后解压缩。你会看到解压出来会有两个文件夹，一个是mplayer文件夹，一个是launchpad文件夹。使用数据线将这两个文件夹复制到kindle 3根目录。然后重启一下Launchpad，重启Launchpad只需按下”Shift, Shift, Space”即可，按键方法是迅速按顺序按下”Shift, Shift, Space”，如果指令成功会在kindle 3屏幕底部显示success的提示。
这样MPlayer for Kindle就算安装成功了。
下面是MPlayer for Kindle的快捷键：

快捷键详解：
连续按下”Shift, M, L”，播放“播放列表”中的歌曲；
用数据线连接kindle 3，在电脑上使用文本编辑器编辑kindle 3中的mplayer文件夹中的playlist文件，playlist文件中可以添加网络流媒体，也可以添加k3中的本地音乐文件。kindle根目录显示为“/mnt/us/”。
连续按下”Shift, M, A”，顺序播放music文件夹中的全部歌曲；
连续按下”Shift, M, R”，随机播放music文件夹中的歌曲；
连续按下”Shift, M, Space”，播放暂停；
连续按下”Shift, M, S”，停止播放；
连续按下”Shift, M, P”，跳到上一首歌曲；
连续按下”Shift, M, N”，跳到下一首歌曲；

上周安装成功后，无法播放列表MP3。不知道是不是列表文件编辑不对。机器开始变得很慢，后来只有重置到出厂状态。今天又重新安装MPLAY，发现如果播放列表就又和之前情况一样，机器变得非常慢。连续按下”Shift, M, S”，停止播放后，又正常。不知道是什么原因。

无法播放列表MP3，有一种可能就是你的mp3歌曲名字不能是中文。否则播放器就会找不到文件。这个你只要改成拼音或英文就行了。
至于机器变慢的问题，我倒是没遇到。你试一下是仅仅播放列表时变慢，还是播放文件夹时也变慢。另外，你的调试状态有没有关闭？如果调试状态不关闭也会造成机器变慢。

我也出现了vaughen一样的情况,是整个机器变得很慢,而且慢到长时间无法显示东西的地步,差点以为要变砖了,只有恢复出厂设置。并且无法播放音乐。
我安装的时候是先装的这里的launchpad,然后再把你做的修改版3个文件夹移入kindle根目录并覆盖launchpad那个文件夹。不知道是不是安装方式错误？
另外,我放的歌曲是英文名的，请问什么是调试状态？如何关闭？
